Softball

We won game 1 of the Tourney 23-7 with continued hitting and defense... Game 2 was against the 2nd place team and they beat us 11-9. We didn't hit until late and had some defensive errors that let them score some runs. I went 3-4 in G1 and 2-4 in G2.

The state court of appeals in New York has dismissed a lawsuit from Dan Rather against CBS for wrongful termination and $70 million in damages.(link)
Dan Rather may finally go away...

Roman (drugged and anally raped a 13 year old) Polanski

Roman (drugged and anally raped a 13 year old) Polanski is in jail in Switzerland fighting extradition to the US; you can read about this story at most websites (news and blogs). Most blogs will be telling you about the crimes and what should be done to Roman (drugged and anally raped a 13 year old) Polanski while most news sites will be making excuses and using a lot of 'alleged's.

Softball (and baseball natch)

before the gameWe won again last night to officially take 1st place going into the tourney tonight. We finished 11-3.

The other team played good defense and held us to 13 runs (the way we were hitting, that's good defense) but we played great defense and shut them out. 13-0 in 5 innings and everyone's home early. I went 2 out of 3 for a season of 31 out of 41 (.756) .. that doesn't count errors / fielder's choices or walks (the walks I didn't count at all, hits or at bats) so my on base percentage is even better heh

In baseball, the Braves won again (14 out of 17) and are 2 back from the Rockies for the wildcard [and 4 back from Philly for the division, but with 6 back, wc is all that is realistic].

The caption with this picture on FoxNews ... ghdfghfghfg

That was about what I thought too. (and no fair pointing out that the caption can be done with one hand o.O)

ObamaCare

Alternate title: Democrats tell the truth

The Democrats, trying to stiffen their party's spines on the contentious issue, say it's unfair to bar illegal immigrants from paying their own way in a government-sponsored exchange. Legal immigrants, they say, regardless of how long they've been in the United States, should be able to get government-subsidized health care if they meet the other eligibility requirements.

"Legal permanent residents should be able to purchase their plans, and they should also be eligible for subsidies if they need it. Undocumented, if they can afford it, should be able to buy their own private plans. It keeps them out of the emergency room," said Rep. Michael M. Honda, California Democrat and chairman of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus. (link)

At least now they aren't trying to cover up the fact that they believe that the illegal immigrants should get health insurance (yes they still call it 'healthcare') although they stop short of saying the illegal immigrants should receive subsidies for it (that will be next or the amnesty first).

Now if we could get the Obamabots to start being truthful on a couple of other points: 1) it's health insurance you're talking about, not healthcare; everyone in this country has healthcare already; 2) costs; tell the people the real costs and let them decide then (of course this is a big non-starter for the overhaul, but at least you'd be honest) and 3) get a grip on the number of people that actually NEED insurance (not the number of people that do not have it) before you rail against the hundreds of millions of people that are doing just fine the way it is.

The Republican party has been called the party of 'no' by the media and the Democrats (redundancy alert) but in this case a 'no' is much better than the clusterfuck that the Obama administration is attempting to push through.

Obamacare

Not only do the demos want you to HAVE to buy insurance whether you want it or not, they are prepared to put you in jail if you don't pay the tax for being un-insured.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."(link)

So not only will Obamacare kill our economy, it will quite possibly help to fill the jails with the uninsured.

Softball

We lost last night 8-4 (team couldn't hit) and still managed to take 1st place in the league (run differential). We got 1 game Monday night and then the tourney starts Tuesday night and we play the winner between the 4 and 5 seeds.

I went 1-3 (my worst night since the 2nd game) and have a batting average of .763 (29 out of 38) so not bad.

Cap and Tax

Clyde Middleton and I just concluded a blogger conference call with the House Whip Team. On the call were Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and Erik Paulsen (R-MN).

The major news from the call was that Cap and Trade is, according to Rep. Jordan, “all but dead in the House.”...(link)
More good news from the party once called conservative. Cap and Tax err Trade is one of the biggest (not the biggest since ObamaCare is still in the works) thefts of American wealth ever put forth by any legislature.

For the purpose of 'protecting the climate' (which the bill wouldn't even do) the citizens would have to pay higher prices for energy... and of course since every product you buy has energy being used to make it, guess what would happen to the prices of all those 'luxury' goods (you know: food, water, shelter, etc.)? Of course they'd skyrocket also. Since the manufacturers would have to pay more to produce, they would charge more (not the full amount, some would be taken back by cutting pay and a very small amount eaten from profit) for their products to consumers.

So not only do you have the 'direct tax' of higher electric bills (around $1761 per year [link]) you would also bite the indirect price raise by each business that had their electric bills raised. The cost to each person would be much higher than any estimate because of the 'pass-down' method of pricing by business.

Killing this behemoth bill is a very high priority (just behind the ObamaCare fiasco) and you should let your congresscritters know how you feel on this. (easy way here)

Ed talks about this among other non-tax taxes in his latest AIP column here

Bailouts

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus on Wednesday sought a promise from the Obama administration that the government will stop rescuing huge financial institutions on the brink of failure. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner declined.

“You can’t fix the system, make it more stable in the future, by hoping and promising that you’re going to ... abolish the fire station or block the doors of the fire station when the crisis breaks out,” Geithner told Bachus during a Wednesday morning hearing on Capitol Hill. “It’s not a strategy that works.”(link)
Finally the R's are acting more and more like conservatives... now that they can't reasonably expect to accomplish anything.

If they had acted like this when they controlled Washington, we might not be in the 'dire straits' we're in now. When confronted with Democrats and Democrat-lites, the voters will usually pick the authentic ones.

Softball

Double-header tonight (and we got to play, fields were awful though)...

Game 1 28-2 in 3 innings... Game 2 forfeit

We're now 10-2 and in first place still; unless we lost Thursday night by 13 or more runs we'll stay in first (no chance of that so...)

Sports

Not a terribly good weekend for me.

Austin played great and won big (4th in a row) to start the weekend off. although their schedule will jump in coming weeks [link].

Tennessee played better than expected (by the 'experts') and had a good game with (1) Florida, but lost.

Dallas looked great and awful, sometimes on the same drive. Romo gave the game away with some bad passes and the defense couldn't stop Eli on 3rd down for @%##.

Marilyn Manson Opens Art Gallery on Halloween (2006)

Entrevista para
SheWire

¡Definitivamente!

Softball / etc

Rained out again last night, got 4 games next week (1 Mon, 2 Tues, 1 Thurs) so hopefully the freaking Global WarmingCooling Climate Change weather will cooperate. heh

Bowled decent Wed. night, knee was ok (some discomfort so had to adjust) and we won em all again (14-0 after 2 weeks and 1st place).

UT plays Florida this week and no one give Tenn better than a 45-10 score (I've seen worse). I'd be highly surprised if UF scores over 30 in this game with UT's defense the way it is. Of course our offense is terrible so we would be lucky to get past 10 :(

Softball / etc

Rained out Monday night (double header), no game last night and 1 game tomorrow night (if it doesn't rain)... currently 8-2 in 1st place

Bowl tonight, gotta try to change styles (again) because of the knee, hope it works out this time (heh)
“Curb Your Enthusiasm” premiere for Season 7

It hurts so good

Al fiiiin he visto True Blood!
