The Losers

Should you see it?  Yes

A covert ops team is betrayed by their handler in Bolivia when targeting a suspected terrorist weapons man.  They go in and rescue twenty-five innocent children; then everything goes wrong.

Starring Jeffery Dean Morgan (Clay), Idris Elba (Rogue), Chris Evans (Jensen), Columbus Short (Pooch), Oscar Jaenada (Cougar) and Zoe Saldana as Aisha. This is a fast-action shoot-em-up that delivers. The bad guy (Max) is a bit over-the-top in his acting, but the movie on the whole is well played.

Make sure to watch into the credits or you'll miss one of the funniest parts... also this movie screams sequel.

Year One

Just watched Year One. Decent movie, funny and stupid (why do they all have to be stupid). Jack Black and Michael Cera star in it (along with June Diane Raphael and Juno Temple [Olivia Wilde is a princess in it).

The movie centers on Zed and Oh getting kicked out of their village (hunter/gatherer village) and embarking on a journey to see the end of the world (or not).

They find Cain and Abel, slave-traders, Hebrews and finally the city of Soddom. They rescue their friends, save the day, etc...
Ok, it's not that good, but it was funny.

Movie Time

Gina Gershon
Watched Showgirls yesterday. It's amazing how you can forget just how bad a movie is until you see it again. I didn't make it until the end so I don't even remember that part. And I use to think that Elizabeth Berkley was a good actress ...

Another idiotic movie. Some humor, some laughs, a lot of stupid.

Bolt - after

Sad to say, this movie... rocked :) By far the best movie I've seen in awhile. Me and lil bit laughed all the way through it. Great plot, good acting (heh) and a little drama. And in 3d.

Unlike when I was little, the 3d actually is 3d. Not the blue and red funky glasses and everything just looks kinda blurry, this is everything looks like it's right there in your face kind of 3d, which made the movie that much better.

If you have a small child anywhere around (or if you can steal one); go see this show. Even at 17 bucks for us two, it was worth it.

Bolt

Going to see this today with lil bit for her birthday (not today, but she won't be here for it). We'll review it when we get back :)

Wanted

Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie - Wanted (Fox)

Decent plot, good premise, top notch actors. Without Jolie in this movie I would have been watching Zohan reruns with subtitles. This movie would rate a 2 on a 10 without her; as it is; it rates about a 4.

Without my fascination with Jolie, I wouldn't use this DVD for a coaster.

Wanted

Going to watch Wanted tonight; I'll post on how I like it

Update

Ahh the birthday is over :) was a fun day though. Started Thursday night at the Brick, from there to TK's where I played some pool and drank a couple of beers.

I met up with a girl I hadn't seen in 8-10 years and we got caught up on everything that had been going on, then went and watched Saw IV (more gruesome than the other 3 combined I think) until ~5am [from 9pm to 5am I had 5 total 22oz beers... far cry from my drinking days heh].

Friday daytime was bill paying and driving to get lil bit from school. They had a program to honor Mother's Day and Father's Day (unusual) so that was sweet. We (me, lil bit and my parents) ended up going to play putt-putt in the evening at Golf Shores. Lil bit got her 5th all-time hole-in-one there and everyone had a blast. We went home and played games and watched TV until bed time.

Today was soccer day (got some video, but I'm at work so will have to wait to upload) and our team lost (they have went w/l/w/l/w/l for the season with 1 to go, so they should win :). Lil bit scored her 6th goal of the year for a 1 goal per game average. She played very aggressive today with 5 or 6 great tackles and she played great defense in the box. Her goal was one of those that creeps along the line and just barely goes in, but it counts :)

Working now (o/t) and tonight, Eve and I are going out to have some fun, so probably no more posting until tomorrow from me.

Stop-Loss

Stop-loss hit theaters... and the theaters hit back (hehTM).

I told my dad that this was a train-wreck waiting to happen and it did. The numbers are something like 7th for the weekend (behind Debbie does Dallas XXXII) and the only rave revues are coming from people that actually are in the film.

For a great review of the movie, head over to Libertas and read theirs.
Actual line from the film: "F**K the President." A half-hour in, when absolutely nothing we've been told about this character prepares us for it, that's what comes out of the mouth of our protagonist war hero, Brandon King (Ryan Phillipe). Like someone flipped a switch, King transforms from hoo-rah Army sergeant to Code Pink mouthpiece. "Wait a minute," he protests, to his commanding officer, "Stop-loss is only in effect during times of war, and the President said the war was over." That's the logic our screenwriters came up with as motivation for desertion.
Read the whole review (and the comments) this is some good stuff. (h/t ACE)

Alvin!

Went and saw Alvin and the Chipmunks with little bit tonight. It was very funny. I loved it and she couldn't stop laughing.

It follows the cartoon story very well in parts, and is updated to 'now' in other parts. It has morals (a moral) and has great animation for the 'munks.

Except for ticket prices, there was nothing to complain about. This is one movie you need to take your kids to. Heck, I'd take a date to this movie; it was that funny.

Movie

Just watched Darkness Falls (Sony) and would have to say it was a great movie. I've not read what others (experts and what not) have written about it, but I found the plot good, the action scary and the characters 'believable'.

If you like scary movies, this is a good one to watch. I'll not post on what it's about to save you any spoilers (if you follow the link above, you'll get the main site for it), but do not watch this alone if you get scared easily.

Falen: If you read this one, make sure you are not staying home alone after watching this movie, I know how much movies get to you and this one would do it hard.
