FARC

BOGOTA (Reuters) - Colombia found explosives set to be used in bombs across the capital in reprisal for this week's rescue of leftist rebels' highest-profile hostages, including Ingrid Betancourt, military officials said on Saturday.

The army seized about a ton of explosives at a farm outside Bogota that it suspected the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, planned to use in attacks over the next few days, said the officials, who asked not to be named.

On Wednesday, the military dealt the rebels the latest in a series of severe blows this year, duping them into handing over French-Colombian politician Betancourt, three American defense contractors and 11 Colombian soldiers and police officers.

Not looking good for the terrorists in Columbia, finally. With the rescue and now raid of explosives (and the 'rebels' wanting to now talk peace); maybe this country can finally know some measure of peace.

Chechen Caveat

Dr Yossef Bodansky returns after his super controversial "Secret History of the Iraq War" with a very interesting nonfiction docu drama about the future of Jihad. Using history, high level contacts and a bit more open on sources, Bodansky shares lessons, tactics and strategies that the Russians used to salvage an almost total defeat in Chechnya (despite leveling the capitol Grozny - twice) into a managable draw and a likely marginalization of the destructive appeals of militant mohmmedism. It's "Chechen Jihad - Al Qaeada's Training Ground and the next wave of Terror."

When the Soviet Union regime changed herself into the Russian Commonwealth, Chechnya became a laboratory in the past decade featuring a weird hook up of native Chechen separatists and militant jihadists. From all over Central Asia and the ME, rejectionists with an evil penchant for victims, sharia law and explosives have joined forces to replenish al Qaeda and to march the mohammedist movement to continue the attack on anything not remotely resembling a romanticsed reactionary 8th century fantasy.
"Chechens are professional fighters—disciplined and responsible, with a combination of skills, expertise, and character that has made them the most sought-after 'force multipliers' in the jihadist movement."
Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Kurdistan, the Balkans, Caucasas, Algeria, Sudan, Kashmir and Azerbijian. Chechens appear wherever Jihadi mini theocracies are in danger of collapsing. Chechens also appear wherever Jihadi theocrcies are exporting murder, mayhem and torment to their neighbors. Chechens appear whenever Vlad needs some mafia style head knocking or military style dark arts influence in old school Soviet Republics that have splintered into an astounding numer of provinces, peoples and independence movements.

Bodansky shares secrets and actually does the kiss and tell routine with secret histories of the two Chechen wars, Caveats about "Chechenization" - a Russian style 'hearts and minds' campaign that failed and transformed the fight from a secular nationalist campaign into a holy war against Mother Russia and the secular, wicked, woman worshipping West.

And, in the most instructive message for Western audiences, he reveals how the Chechen rebellion was eventually crippled by a schism between the jihadists and the Chechen people whose nationalist rebellion they had co-opted—an object lesson in the vulnerability of imposed Caliphatic campaigns around the world.

Great writing, action and plot twists that rival anything from Hollywood, including a sweet scene where Vlad exacts revenge on El Bastardo of the Beslan School Massacre, Bodansky presents a convincing pic from military and intelligence sources from throughout the ME and Central Asia, as well as senior officials in many of the affected nations.

"Chechen Jihad" offers an intimate look, chilling possibilities and possible solutions.

Hellfire

The new 'forgotten war' still has some good headlines to show [Iraq]:
Click for the rest of the story

U.S. commanders in Iraq have released dramatic video showing a car containing Al Qaeda operatives being blown up by hellfire missiles attached to Apache attack helicopters.

The car was destroyed in the mission that military officials say demonstrates greater cooperation between locals and coalition forces in Iraq.

One of the terrorists killed in the attack on Sunday is an insurgent who had been imprisoned on Nov. 11 but released shortly afterward. He conducted two attacks on U.S. and coalition forces, including one on Thanksgiving, before being killed, officials said.

One of the "high value" individuals targeted "is believed to be an Al Qaeda cell leader known to facilitate attacks and orchestrate suicide bomb attacks," said Major Alayne Conway, a spokeswoman with the 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq. "He was also involved in attacks against forces in 3rd Brigade's area of operations. One of his most well-known attacks was a vehicle-borne IED against the Australian Embassy."

Blood Libel

The al Durah blood libel

Wednesday,
14th November 2007

I am in Paris where I have attended the Court of Appeal special session called to witness the 27 minutes of hitherto unseen footage of the ‘killing’ of Mohammed al Durah which the court had required France 2 to produce. For readers who are unfamiliar with this scandal, I wrote about it here, here and here.

Suffice it to say here that the iconic image of the child Mohammed al Durah, pictured crouching with his father behind a barrel next to a concrete wall in an
apparently vain attempt to shelter from the gun-battle between Israel and the
Palestinians that was raging around them before he was allegedly shot dead by
the Israelis, served to incite terrorist violence and atrocities around the
world after it was transmitted by France 2 at the beginning of the second
intifada. Yet it is clear to anyone looking at this in detail that the whole
thing was staged, not least from the devastating evidence here which shows the boy
raising his arm and peeping through his fingers seconds after the France 2
correspondent Charles Enderlin said he had been shot dead. [link]

In a hurry so can't comment atm.

*update: This scene was partially (if not wholly) responsible for the 2nd infitada against Israel and is utterly fake. It behooves responsible news people everywhere to not only look at what they have, but to check and make sure they are actually reporting and not making it up (yes I'm looking at you Dan). No one knows if things would have been different without this heinous video from France2, but that doesn't stop one from wondering exactly how much bloodshed this newsman and his camera man have on their hands.

Will they pay for it? I seriously doubt it. In the minds of the public they may get raked over the coals for a few weeks or months, but it is very hard for me to believe that the government will pose any severe penalties on these monsters.

Iraq and the Return

Courtney has a great write up on the 'Surge effect' in Iraq:
Knocking out the largest Arab army in history in 20 days, turning Iraq into a
giant sucking killing machine, grinding up Saudi rejects, wanna be jihadis',
Iranian Minions and Syrian agents. Leaving them dead on the side of the road for
a stranger to bury, has magically drawn the Great
Satan's enemies
into a quagmire that has drained resources, volunteers and
their collective willpower. Going to Iraq for jihad now is a dumb thing to do.
[link]
Of course she goes on (in her special way) to say much more, so read the whole thing, it's a great write.

It's time now for the 'other' political animal to jump on board and ride the bandwagon; or essential to leave the playing field for the serious people to work with.

Peace

JERUSALEM - At the outset of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's latest
diplomatic mission to the region, Israel's top negotiator acknowledged on Sunday
that there were problems trying to frame a blueprint for a peace deal with the
Palestinians.[link]
You think? I may not be the smartest person on the planet, but even I can see there will be problems making a peace deal with a group that has not honored one yet; nor have they stopped randomly sending rockets into civilian population in Israel. But of course, that won't stop everyone from thinking that we are thisclose to making a deal.

The two sides are at odds over whether the blueprint should spell out ways to
resolve issues that have derailed peace talks in the past — namely, final borders between Israel and a future Palestinian state, sovereignty over disputed
Jerusalem, and a solution for Palestinians who became refugees after Israel's
creation in 1948.

Israeli and Palestinian teams have been meeting in hopes of reaching the outlines of a future peace agreement, which they hope to present at a U.S.-hosted Mideast conference expected later this year.

They act like these are the only things that have 'derailed' the peace talks. There is no mention of the continued suicide attacks or rocket attacks initiated by Hamas and Fatah into Israel. And of course there won't be. It is not polite to point out that one side of this peace 'table' is not interested in peace of any kind except the final peace of the Jewish state.

Israel and the United States are bargaining only with the moderate government of
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank, freezing out Islamic Hamas militants who seized control of the Gaza Strip in June.

"There is a willingness to do this, even though the situation on the ground, especially in Gaza Strip, is complicated," Livni said.

Fatah (Abbas) is only 'moderate' in relation to the bloodthirsty terrorists of Hamas. Without Hamas there, no one would be talking to the terrorists of Fatah either. Until or unless the Palestinean people decide to be ruled by something other than thugs and murderers, peace will remain 'elusive'.

HRW attacks Israel (again) and Bad guys dead

Human Rights Watch has decided that Israel acted wrong in firing upon Lebanon in the last little war:
In its harshest condemnation of Israel since last summer's war, Human Rights Watch charged that most of the Lebanese civilian casualties came from "indiscriminate Israeli airstrikes," according to a report to be released Thursday.

In a statement issued before the report's release, the human rights organization said there was no basis to the Israeli claim that civilian casualties resulted from Hizbullah guerrillas using civilians as shields. Israel has said that it attacked civilian areas because Hizbullah set up rocket launchers in villages and towns. [link]
It's hard to win if you're Israel, no matter what you do, or what they do (like anyone really believes that terrorists weren't using civilians as shields) you can't win. This is probably the first of many condemnations of Israel to come.
More than 1,000 Lebanese were killed in the 34-day conflict last summer, which began after Hizbullah staged a cross-border raid, killing three IDF soldiers and capturing two others. They are still being held.

IAF warplanes targeted Lebanese infrastructure, including bridges and Beirut Airport, and heavily damaged a neighborhood in Beirut known as a Hizbullah stronghold, as well as attacking Hizbullah centers in villages near the border. {emp. mine-LN}
You can readily tell the A(w/t)P wrote this article, they never seem to tell you that any of those 'civilians' were terrorists. Since there is no exact way to know exactly how many were, a little caveat would be welcome. At least they remembered who started the war this time.

Three slimes got their's:
Israeli troops backed by tanks and bulldozers moved a kilometer (half-mile) inside the Gaza Strip to strike at Palestinian terrorists on Thursday, a day after Defense Minister Ehud Barak said a broad operation inside the coastal territory was inevitable.

Three Palestinian gunmen were killed and 12 people were wounded in a battle with soldiers, but there were conflicting reports on the details of the clash in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis.[link]
Of course there are conflicting reports, anytime you have 2 sides to something, you will inevitably have 2 reports.
Meanwhile, IDF troops operating in the northern West Bank town of Jenin on Thursday arrested an Islamic Jihad member armed with a rifle and two explosives devices.

During the arrest a group of Palestinians at the scene hurled two homemade bombs at the troops. The soldiers returned fire and one Palestinian was hit by a rubber bullet. He was treated at the scene by an IDF doctor.

In addition, troops operating in the town also uncovered 30 pipe bombs in a vehicle.
Bonus catches for the IDF, of course those poor terrorists are only fighting the occupation /sarc

Gazans Stream to Crossing with Israel

By DIAA HADID, Associated Press Writer
2 hours, 31 minutes ago

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Hundreds of terrified Gazans fleeing Hamas rule were trapped at a main crossing with Israel on Tuesday, hoping to gain permission to pass through Israeli territory to sanctuary in the West Bank.

Fearing death or persecution, Gazans began flocking to the Erez passage after Hamas militants wrested control of the coastal strip from Fatah security forces late last week. Israel, which has no interest in letting masses of Gazans pass through its territory and possibly destabilize the quieter West Bank, has refused to let most of them in, saying their lives were not in danger.(link)

This is a conundrum for Israel. They will let some pass (for humanitarian reasons) but the bulk of people will be turned away. While this is in their rights to do, and the smart thing to do; most of the world will renounce Israel's actions in this, implying that Israel has no rights in controlling it's own borders. Of course, this is not new, so shouldn't surprise anyone.

Blogger Sued for Publishing Stories About Muslims linked to Terror

If the Muslims get away with this "test case", it will shut us all down. The intrepid blogger and PI (and valued Atlas source) has been sued for publishing stories about Muslims with ties to Islamic terror. News stories already published in the mainstream media. Warner obviously hit a nerve. This is the next nefarious step in the litigation jihad. Warner must prevail. This wreaks of CAIR. Their tactics are written all over it. How is this different than the CAIR lawsuit against the Jane/John Does on the US Airways flight that reported the belligerent, aggressive behavior of the six imams?) Perhaps we need legislation to protect us (what happened to free speech?)
Bill Warner writes me the following;

Blogger sued and facing an injunction to cease and desist publishing stories about Muslims linked to terrorism

This is a serious threat to First Amendement rights of Freedom of Speach for bloggers and news reporters everywhere, and if I lose the law suit and the injunction is enforced, it will set a precedent for future law suits and injunctions to be imposed on any blogger or news reporter who writes about Muslims linked to terrorism.

n 5/21/2007 I was served summons of Complaint and an Injunction by the Mcintrye Law Firm of Tampa Fl who represent Abdul Raouf M. Dabus in a Defamation Law Suit against myself and my company for supposedly linking Mr. Dabus and his company VIP Motors in Tampa with shipping vehicles to the Middle East for resale in support of terrorism and that Mr. Dabus had worked at the Islamic Academy of Florida with Sami Al-Arain (The School that Terrorism Built) as an instructor from 1999 to an unknown point and that Mr. Dabus was linked to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and that such information is posted on my web site www.wbipi.com .

More Terrorists Rockets

Kassam hits house as IAF planes attack in Deir-el-Balah

Two Kassam rockets were fired from Gaza at Sderot Sunday night. No one was injured but one went into shock when the Kassam hit.

One of the rockets hit a Sderot home that had been damaged by a Kassam in the past. The residents of the house were in Jerusalem when the rocket struck.

Earlier, IAF planes bombed Hamas installations in the Gaza Strip town of Deir el-Balah Sunday night.

A 35-year-old man was killed when a Kassam rocket slammed into the road near his car in Sderot Sunday morning, as rockets continued to rain down on the southern town.

The man - identified as Oshri Oz, 35, from Hod Hasharon - was hit in the neck by shrapnel when the missile landed, and the car crashed into a wall. He was evacuated to Ashkelon's Barzilai Hospital in critical condition and died of his wounds shortly afterward. (link)

Gaza Terrorism Watch

Fighting continues in the 'cease-fire' of Gaza. More terrorists killed and even some rockets fired into Israel from some bored idiots who think the death toll isn't rising quite fast enough.

Hamas and Fatah are daily proving that they have no business running anything, from a government to a bakery. The people that live in the occupied palestinian territories would do much better to start applying for citizenship to the outlying countries. Not only are the two terrorist organizations killing each other during a 'cease-fire' (oxy-moron in palespeak) now they have decided that they need a new team in the fight.
The IDF had no immediate comment.

Everytime that Israel responds to the Kassams fired into Sderot or anywhere else, this needs to be their response. Nothing more needs to be said. Only idiots or terrorists supporters are still clueless to whom is at fault, it won't matter what Israel said, these people will continue to blame them, so why give them any sound bytes?

A Palestinian attempting to fire Kassam rockets from the northern Gaza border was shot and hit by IAF aircrafts late Thursday evening.

The strike was the fifth IAF operation in Gaza since Thursday morning.

Earlier Thursday seven Palestinians were killed as IAF aircrafts fired missiles at Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

In one of the airstrikes, three people were killed by an IAF missile fired at a vehicle in southern Gaza, Palestinian security officials reported. (link)

If you're keeping score at home so far it's civilization 1, terrorists 0 and not likely to change. It is beyond the pale that the West and most of the rest of the world still think these people deserve any concessions to statehood.

Egypt, Jordan and two other key US allies, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, have been trying to convince the United States and Israel to accept an Arab peace initiative as a starting ground for relaunching peace negotiations. The deal offers full peace with all Arab nations if Israel withdraws from territories captured in the 1967 Six Day War and the creation of a Palestinian state.

Israel and the U.S. should tell the Arab world that they'll take 'full peace' at the current borders. Everyone with half a brain knows what happens when Israel withdraws from ANY land, there is no indication that this would be different. Full peace from the Arab world means little if the terrorists are simply going to keep firing on Israel. (link)

If they truly want peace in the Middle East, the world should turn a blind eye to Israeli defensive measures and declare the territory now owned by the palestinian-arabs a country. That way a true war can and would be waged. With any type of leader (not including Olmert) Israel could make peace in short order in that situation.

Until or unless people realize that you can't apologize for terrorists any more than you can rationalize for them, this 'peace' will continue unabated. The next time you hear of a 'cease-fire' or 'truce' in Gaza, laugh with the reporters, as they surely are.

Palestinian Terror Watch

What's the quickest way to get terrorists to commit violence? Issue a cease-fire:
Earlier, sources in President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah said tensions stoked by the renewed violence with Hamas, after the ceasefire was announced late on Sunday, could lead to the collapse of the unity government within days.

Is anyone out there suprised? You can have all the cease-fires and truces you want, but until the people actually adhere to them, they don't mean anything. These are the same people that launch rockets into Israel daily and claim that Israel doesn't want peace or that Israel breaks cease-fires. Along with the media doing the reporting, these people are the sole reason there is not peace in the Holy Land.
Despite an Egyptian-brokered truce, two Palestinian gunmen and two civilians caught in crossfire were killed in Gaza in clashes between the Hamas and Fatah groups. Eight people have been shot dead since a new round of violence erupted on Friday.

Slow weekend in the latest 'truce' in the Palestinian-controlled territories. Eight is usually a good one day total for these barbarians. I guess if you can't get to the evil Jews (TM) then you have to shoot at someone.

"I told all parties I cannot accept being a minister without authority," Interior Minister Hani al-Qawasmi said at a news conference after Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, a Hamas leader, accepted his resignation.

As Hamas's choice as interior minister, Qawasmi was to have overseen security services, but officials said the former academic was frustrated by competition from powerful Fatah rivals for control of the armed contingents.

Just what authority Mister Qawasmi thought he may have when he signed up we'll never know, it's not like the situation has changed any since the 'new' goverment has been put into place.
Qawasmi's move cast new doubt on whether power-sharing between Islamist Hamas and secular Fatah could continue. Filling the interior ministry post had been one of the main obstacles to forming the current coalition government.

Let me answer that one for you. There is no 'new' doubt on this, there is the same old doubt and certainty that it will not happen. Hamas is incapable of running a government and Fatah is only 'moderate' in comparison. When you have to choose between two poisonous snakes, you pick the one that kills you slower.

Until the people (you know those lovable 'palestinians' that we shed so many tears for) finally get tired of being governed by a group (or 3) of terrorists, these problems will not only not go away, they will intensify. If there ever was a 'country' in the world in need of revolution, this is it.

Can the Left hear?

JPost reports another disturbing bit about the Palestinian 'Government':
Sheik Ahmad Bahr, acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, declared during a Friday sermon at a Sudan mosque that America and Israel will be annihilated and called upon Allah to kill Jews and Americans "to the very Last One." Following are excerpts from the sermon that took place last month, courtesy of MEMRI.

Let's give these guys a state! How long will it be before they finally achieve their dreams of a Palestinian state and the destruction of Israel? Will it be longer than it takes for most of the left and Europe to take the wax out of their ears?
The Hamas spokesperson concluded with a prayer, saying: "Oh Allah, vanquish the Jews and their supporters. Oh Allah, count their numbers, and kill them all, down to the very last one. Oh Allah, show them a day of darkness. Oh Allah, who sent down His Book, the mover of the clouds, who defeated the enemies of the Prophet, defeat the Jews and the Americans, and bring us victory over them."

Sounds more like an Old Testament kind of prayer than something that belongs in the modern world doesn't it? It's not like these guys make a secret of what they want, they even tell you how they are going to do it (ie: Iran) and yet most of the left/EU still want to spend (waste) time and money trying to figure out why and how. They try to find a way to have 'peace' in the middle east. It seems increasingly clear that there are only 2 solutions left to have peace there. I'm sure the debates will be long on which is the better choice.

Terrorists get theirs

5 Rats in a Hole:

LONDON — A judge sentenced five men to life in prison Monday for plotting to attack targets in London, including a popular nightclub, power plants and shopping mall, with bombs made from a half-ton stockpile of fertilizer.

The trial for the first time exposed connections between the defendants and the deadly 2005 Al Qaeda-linked attack on the city's transit system.

Details kept secret to ensure a fair trial showed that counterterrorism agents tracking the five men had also stumbled onto the transit plotters. And despite disturbing signs that the transit plot was in the works, the agents failed to piece them together in time to prevent the July 7, 2005 bombings that killed 52 people, testimony and official briefings during the trial showed.

The revelations are at odds with statements by Tony Blair's government after the 2005 attack. Senior ministers, who a month earlier had lowered the country's alert status, said the 2005 attack was unexpected and the perpetrators unknown.

Omar Khyam was found guilty of conspiracy to cause explosions made from a chemical fertilizer that could endanger life. Also found guilty were Anthony Garcia, Jawad Akbar, Waheed Mahmood and Alahuddin Amin. (link)

Nice to see these guys will be put away for a very long time (not sure on the parole requirements in the UK) but notable that the AP article spends over half its time talking about what the British government didn't do, instead of what it did.

Hindsight is always 20/20 and you can always say should have or could have after the fact. The news of this trial and sentence needs to focus on the 'dids' not the 'did nots'.

Terrorism (deaux)

Fox news reports on new fighting in the West Bank between Israel and the Palestinians.
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Hamas militants called Sunday for a fresh wave of attacks against Israel after troops killed nine Palestinians in weekend fighting, straining a five-month-old cease-fire.

It's extremely hard to strain a cease-fire that has not stopped any fighting yet. Of course this has never stopped the terrorists of Palestine or the MSM from reporting it.
In response to the bloodshed, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' more moderate Fatah movement urged him to consider breaking off contacts with the Israeli government, despite his pledge to the United States to hold regular meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Hamas and Fatah are partners in a coalition government.

One of the best things that could happen is that Israel stop talking to the 'moderate' terrorists. It does not matter what Abbas promises, the terror mindset is too deeply imbedded with Hamas and Fatah.

Among the nine Palestinians killed in the weekend upsurge of violence were two gunmen and a 17-year-old who died Sunday in the West Bank. The fighting also included a Palestinian rocket attack on the southern Israeli town of Sderot that damaged a home.

Israeli officials defended the killings as part of operations that have drastically reduced the number of attacks against Israelis. Palestinian officials, however, said that the deaths jeopardized their efforts to expand the Gaza truce to the West Bank.

Of course, any movement by Israel will by default jepordize expanding the cease-fire. Of course, the fact that the cease-fire isn't even good on PAPER shouldn't come into the thinking of the reporter, nor his expected reader.

No one media outlet has ever been accused of actually reporting this story neutrally, but you would think that the 'right-wing' Fox would actually play more to the middle and call a spade a spade, but...

Hamas, which has killed scores of Israelis in homicide bombings, sought to rally other Palestinian militant groups in a new offensive that would shatter the truce in the Gaza Strip.

"The blood of our people is not cheap," a Hamas statement said, inviting Palestinians of every ideological stripe to unite and "use all possible means of resistance and to respond to the massacres."

Of course your people's blood is cheap. When (for any reason) you can't convince some promising teen-ager or 'ripe' mother to blow themselves up to kill the Jews, you spend your time killing yourselves or training the children to do it for you. If you really think your people's lives are precious, maybe it's time for the 'leaders' to actually start acting like it. Governing isn't that hard a process; people have been ruling countries since shortly after people arrived. One or another of those examples should help the terrorists out.

Miri Eisin, a spokeswoman for Olmert, said Israel "reaches out for peace, while at the same time we will always consistently fight against terror." Israel will continue its operations against Palestinian militants, she said, while "always doing our utmost to avoid any innocent casualties."

Troops killed the Palestinian teenager Sunday in a village near Ramallah. Palestinian officials said he was throwing stones at an Israeli patrol when he was shot. The army said soldiers opened fire as the youth was about to throw a firebomb at a military jeep.

Earlier, an army task force raided the militant stronghold of Nablus, killing two Palestinian gunmen, including Amin Lubadi, a top bombmaker who had been wanted by Israel for more than three years. The army said an Israeli soldier was lightly wounded in the battle.

Maybe one day they'll teach their young children and teens, that throwing stones (and/or firebombs) at soldiers does not lead to a healthy-long life. Yes shooting someone for throwing stones may be too much, but if you continue to do nothing, the stones will grow or the throwers will. Israel has acted more honorably than any country could expect in dealing with the terrorist menace of Palestine. How many countries can you think of that would not, by now, have razed most of the West Bank and Gaza to the ground? The palestinians have spent their anger, money and promise attacking the one country in the whole region that would have actually taken them in. It is no secret that every arab country bordering Israel has not made a home for their fellow arabs. It would hurt the despotic leaders of the region too much if they didn't have the palestinean-pawns to run the news and keep the eyes off of their regimes.

In unrelated violence late Sunday, four Palestinians were killed in Gaza, two in a gunfight among family members and two others in apparently random shootings by criminals, security officials said. Also, shadowy Islamic groups sent warnings to cigarette dealers to destroy their wares and to barbers to close their shops.

Internal violence has plagued Gaza for most of the time since Israel pulled out in 2005. Some has pitted Hamas and Fatah forces against each other, while other incidents involve family disputes or crime. (link)

How do they figure that this is unrelated violence? Any peoples that are governed by violence and beholden to terrorists will find a way to have violence if they cannot get to their 'enemies'. These people deserve a home, but not a state. There is no way that they can seriously be considered 'humane' enough to be given a state (note: if they already had a state, ex. N. Korea, then they'd simply be a horrible country) of their own. They simply cannot govern themselves. If the 'people' truly want a state, they will show it by getting rid of the terrorists. Unlike 'most' worldwide terrorism where the perpetrators are shadowy figures rarely known until they strike, in this land, their is common knowledge of who is who.

Terrorism

In the neverending saga that is the Middle East, we have yet another terrorist orginization that says it will NOT stop attacks on Israel, not unless they 'get something in return'.

Israel has been giving since the return of the Jews in 1948 and nothing has changed. Nothing will change today if Israel gives again. The Palestinian people will ultimately be the ones that (if ever) achieve peace. They will do this by renoucing terrorism and by finally not harboring the like any longer.

As long as Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad and other 'political' groups are in play, the Middle East and specifically Israel will not know a moments peace. There will be pundits and arm-chair quaterbacks alike who will ask why? (The favorite question of a lefty) As, why do the palestinians hate Israel so much, why do they kill the innocent, why will Israel not talk, etc. The terrorists (just like the terrorists in Iraq, Africa, SE Asia and around the world) keep trying to tell everyone why they do things, what they are going to do and how, yet the left simply does not hear them and continues on their liberal agenda of mothering the world to death. The terrorists state explicitly that Israel must be wiped out, not that Israel must make peace, and that the Jews must be killed. Just as Al-Qaeda and others state that everyone will become a muslim or die, these messages are loud and clear, yet the left still does not hear.

What will it take for the left (and most of the international community) to finally wake up and hear the message? No one knows, it took World War II before people of that era finally realized that Hitler was serious when he talked of world domination. Maybe this time (of course history shows us that it won't happen) the left will wake up before the world goes off the precipe. For all the screams about the 'failed' Iraqi war; these pale in comparison to the silence on Dafur, Thailand, Europe and other 'hotspots' in the world where these animals have free reign with passive (if not active) help from the 'intelligent' peoples of the world.

Islamic Jihad denied reports Wednesday that it had agreed to halt rocket attacks on Israel.

Reports in some Arab newspapers claimed earlier that the Islamist organization had reached an agreement with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to stop the Kassam attacks.

This story is a small story to the world, but it tells many what they need to know about the intents and purposes of the terrorists of that area and not ONE prominent leftist will make a note of this (unless it is to call Israel to listen, as if they have not been listening to the Muslims since the 700's).

Sooner or later all the terrorist problems will indeed go away. But will it be because we (the free people of the world) have carried the day, or will it be because the left and the cowards of the world have finally had enough and caused the capitilation of civilization as we know it.

I can only hope for me and my family that when the time comes to surrender, we are no longer are part of this world. With the current crop of leaders and high-ranking dignitaries in the world, global warming will soon come to mean a new thing if they don't finally get their heads out of the sand and start asking Why? As in why aren't we doing something about this.

Reason to question

Traitors !!! or Misguided???

I think I'm just about done with;

1.) liberals complaining that the Right is questioning their Patriotism when it comes to the War and combating Terrorism.

2.) people on the Right reflexively stating that we're not questioning their Patriotism, we're questioning their judgement.

Now, by-and-large I really do try to question the person's judgement instead of their underlying motives.

BUT ...

I think the past year (and recent events such as this weekend) have gradually started pushing me to question their Patriotism ( and to hell with their judgement) !!!

Case in point... Rosie O' Donnell

Rosie has been out there with many recent statements.

Here she laments Khalid Sheikh Muhammed (KSM) being robbed of his "humanity"

Check out HotAir's recap on this and her distortions.

She went nuclear on Elizabeth Hasselbeck because she (Hasslebeck) called KSM a "terrorist,".

Rosie O'Donnell said, and I quote...

"Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah! You're going to rob him of his humanity now. You want to rob him of his humanity by calling him a terrorist."

Hmmm...the guy who planned the '93 WTC bombing and 9/11 - as well as Jose Padilla's mission - which all resulted in ( or attempted to result in) the deaths of thousands of innocent people (each of whom was robbed of more than just their "humanity"), is somehow just some innocent guy who was walking down Rodeo Drive and snatched up and "robbed of his humanity"?

Is she serious?? If it were left to just this comment I'd state that she was a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

In any other war these non-uniformed combatants would've been lined up and shot right there on the battlefield. For some reason Rosie thinks we should treat them like college students playing a prank instead of real killers trying to annihilate a nation.

But it gets better...

Apparently Rosie thinks 9/11 was an "inside job"...

So - its not a big leap to see where she's going with this. Apparently Pres. Bush ordered 9/11 in order to destroy WTC 7 and the files concerning Enron and WorldCom but to cover it up, we had to destroy the twin towers too.

Forget the fact that its impossible for 9/11 to be an inside job. Apparently her Bush-hatred has rendered her delusional. Or is she??

So - she thinks Bush ordered 9/11 and thinks we should be playing patty-cake with terrorists.

She has made repeated statements that Christianity is more dangerous than radical Islam.

She has repeatedly bad-mouthed this country in its war on terror even though, should we succumb to jihad, she'd be one of the first people executed by Al-Qaeda (for being homosexual).

Think I should still just be questioning her judgement?

I don't ... she is being politically calculating in her statements.

I no longer question her judgement. I am here and now...

Questioning her Patriotism.

You (dear reader) can do as you like. But I will no longer play the aforementioned "patriotism game" with Rosie.

Want some more patriots to fawn over?

Ok...

There was a recent anti-war protest in D.C. this weekend. The moonbats had planned to start at the Vietnam War Memorial and then go from there. Well...at the last anti-war march in D.C. the moonbats defaced the Capitol steps with spray-paint. Fearing the defacement of the Vietnam Wall, a Gathering of Eagles was formed to protect it.

A nice write-up of the counter-protest is here;

Another is here;

Here's a nice write-up by the American Thinker;

My buddy who went tells me that the anti-war protestors kept riding the metro trains back to the beginning of the march to give the illusion of a larger crowd than really was. This makes sense since the US Capitol police no longer gives estimates on crowd size but the DC Metro authority is used to get an estimated crowd size by examining rider-ship for the day vs. an average (baseline) day.

Now - check out the mirror protest in Portland. I'm linking to Michelle Malkin's site to show some pics of it;

Check out the first pic of the kid with the "Death to America" sign. Then check out the second pic down where they are not only burning the US flag...but an American soldier in effigy.

So much for supporting the troops and not the mission...huh ?

The unmitigated gall to not only diss your country but also the men and women who make it possible to enjoy each day of freedom is beyond my comprehension.

Yup folks. I'm pretty much done with the Sheehan/Fonda anti-war crowd. I no longer question just their judgement. I question their patriotism. Their lack of judgement is just a by-product of their lack of patriotism.

Let me give you some background before going forward.

My brother served in Afghanistan.

I was scared each day that he was over there. My wife will attest that for the year he was in-country I didn't sleep but a few hours at a time. Sometimes I had nightmares where it was just me and him in a foxhole fighting hand-to-hand with Islamists. At one time I was actually swinging at the imaginary islamists in my sleep (according to my wife). Each day I'd pore over news in Afghanistan. One time, I had heard of a US helicopter going down near his base and killing all aboard. I then stayed up all night just to get news that he was ok (he was - but he had been on that helicopter just hours beforehand). When he came home I drove him to Walter Reed Hospital to get treatment for his arm and his neck which were injured on one of his last missions in-country. He has never complained that he had to go (he is a highly successful person with 3 degrees, making 6-figures at his current job but joined the National Guard to do his duty) and hasn't whispered a word to me about the fact that he has endured consistent pain for the past 18 months. In fact he just came home today after surgery to repair the problem with his neck. If his unit is called up to go to Iraq and his neck injury is healed enough, he will go with his unit (he is the company 1rst Sgt). He doesn't necessarily want to be away from his wife and family but he says that as long as he is physically able to do his job, there is no way he's letting "his guys" go over there without him. I know others in his unit who are of the same mind.

These are better men than the "people" above who call themselves "patriots".

On a larger point ... when did we lose our will to support our country as a force for good? When did the supposed "intellectuals" become self-loathing America-bashers?

A patriot to me is one who supports this country and wants to see it do well. Encouraging our defeat and encouraging our enemy are not patriotic in my opinion.

I hate to say this (as I've reached the point of ranting now)... but since I'm worked up, I'm going to state the jingoistic statement here...

"My country ... right or wrong."

I view this country as a force for Good. And I view our actions in the War on Terror will be held in a positive light in history's hindsight. And I will revel in the day when the Rose O-Donnell's and the Sheehan/Fonda's and their anti-war sycophants are held up in the same regard as Benedict Arnold, Tokyo Rose, et al.

Thank you and goodnight.
